Heating Up

24 Apr

This weekend proved to live up to all the expectations. There is a new #1 in 100m by American Walter Dix! Dix and pulled away from Mike Rodgers halfway through the race and clocked in at a seemingly easy 9.85. Rodgers clocked in at 9.97. Thats a great time considering he hadn’t ran all year because of a ban. Dix was a bronze medalist at the last Olympics and with that start is looking for another medal in London. Here is Dix after the win

The Countdown

19 Apr

Less than 100 days until the opening of the Summer Olympics and Bolt is looking forward to another multi-gold performance and new WR in his respective events. Alfonz Juck caught up with Bolt recently who promises great things this Summer. Mike Rodgers runs this weekend in California at Mt. Sac Relays and Yohan Blake runs a world best 9.90 just last week and many great sprinters are opening in Jamaica on May 5th. The gun sounds!

Not Going Down Without a Fight

America’s 4x400m will try and make some noise this Summer in London. Jeremy Wariner anchored a 4×400 at Texas Relays, splitting a 44.58. Wariner was a 2004 Gold Medalist and since then hasn’t had an ideal season. Once people thought he was a forerunner to break Micheal Johnson’s 400m WR of 43.18. Wariner just recently fired his long time coach and looks stronger than ever. He’s looking forward to running in London and I’m looking forward to seeing him run a well. I believe old Jeremy still has that WR in him.

Here you can watch Jeremy’s seemingly easy 400

Jamaica’s Dominance

2 Apr

Jamaica Invitational will prove to be a great tune- up for sprinters as runners like Usain Bolt(200m World Champion), Yohan Blake(100m World Champion, and Kirani James (400m Champion) will all be present. You can never count out runners such as Asafa Powell and Nesta Carter. This will basically be a way for Jamaica to show their dominance in the sprints. Jamaica’s men are responsible for half of the world’s top ten 100m finishes. Ranking numbers 1,3,4,6, and 7. This will just be a preview of what is to come in the London Olympics.

Beat the Unbeatable?

Yohan Blake talks about actually being faster in this upcoming season. “Blake warns rivals to expect more speed in 2012”. Last year Blake posted the second fastest 2oo time in history. Second only to his training partner Usain Bolt. With the Olympics being right around the corner it is very much possible that Blake can upset Bolt. Blake has never beaten Bolt and this will make for an interesting Olympics in London. Do you think Blake will beat Bolt?
